Elise and Zach woke up to meet us well before sunrise at Badlands National Park for their engagement photos. It was dark and chilly to begin, but quickly the sun coming over the hills made it totally worth it.
Badlands National Park is an underrated gem tucked away in the Badlands of South Dakota. With its unique and stunning landscape, the park offers a unique experience for those looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. It’s vast terrain provides endless opportunities for exploration, photography, and engagement sessions.
The Badlands’ rugged beauty is unlike any other place on Earth. The towering buttes, spires, and canyons that make up this amazing national park are sure to leave anyone feeling inspired and awe-struck. From the Badland’s eerie silence to its sunsets that take you breath away, Badlands National Park promises an unforgettable experience.
Engagement sessions in Badlands National Park can be especially memorable. The Badlands provides a backdrop that is both romantic and unique. Sunrise is an especially incredible time to capture the beauty of the park, with its vibrant colors and timeless landscape. Photos taken in Badlands National Park at sunrise will surely be treasured for years to come.
When planning your engagement session, it’s important to prepare properly for the cold temperatures and harsh terrain. Make sure to dress warmly and bring plenty of water, snacks, and sun protection (including sunglasses). Additionally, make sure you are aware of any park regulations or restrictions before heading out on your session – National parks have some strict rules when it comes to photography permits and trail etiquette.
The answer is yes, but you need to make sure you call ahead and ensure that you secure any permits that may be required and understand the rules and restrictions. National Parks are protected land areas and so it is so important to respect the land and nature and leave no trace. The park rangers will be able to give you all the tips and recommendations you need when entering the park.
Due to the nature of sunlight and shadows, we recommend beating the crowds and doing your photo session during sunrise. If you’re not a morning person, you can also opt for sunset which will be just as beautiful. The reason we recommend sunrise though is to avoid crowds and other people possibly getting in your shots.
